Chinese Delegation Visits Moscow Ahead of the Moscow International Book Fair
A Chinese delegation visited Moscow and held meetings with the leadership of the Russian publishing community to discuss China's participation as the Guest of Honor at the 39th Moscow International Book Fair (MIBF).
The delegation from the China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation included Xie Xiaocheng (Director of the International Exhibition Center) and Wang Cai (Project Manager for the "Guest of Honor" program, Special Events Department). The Russian side was represented by Elena Grebeneva (General Director of MIBF), Elena Starostina (Executive Director of RCS), Leonid Palko (Managing Vice President of RCS), Evgeny Kapyev (General Director of Eksmo Publishing House), and Svetlana Zorina (Head of the Committee for Reading Support and Promotion, RCS).
China's participation will be unprecedented in scale. The Guest of Honor pavilion will occupy 500 square meters, showcasing the country's multifaceted cultural, literary, and scientific heritage. The Chinese delegation will include leading publishers, contemporary writers, research scholars, literary agents, and government representatives. The exhibition will feature over 2,000 exhibitors and 5,000 book copies. The exposition includes China's political, economic, and traditional cultural materials, contemporary and classical literature (including Russian translations), online literature, visual art works, and interactive formats utilizing VR technology. Visitors will be able to purchase books directly at the pavilion.
A comprehensive program of professional exchanges and cultural events is planned, creating a platform for interaction between publishers, authors, and book industry professionals from both countries.

A delegation of Chinese publishers, writers, and scholars will be formed to conduct multilevel cultural exchange events within the framework of the fair, including professional forums, scientific-practical conferences, reader meetings, and others. During the meeting, both sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement regarding the exhibition participation. According to the agreement, Russia will receive the status of Guest of Honor at the International Book Fair in Beijing in 2028, marking an important milestone in long-term cooperation between the two countries.
The discussion covered issues of systematic cooperation between Russia and China in the field of book publishing. The delegations toured the fair venue at Gostiny Dvor and discussed technical and organizational matters of preparation.
In addition to the main meetings, representatives of the Chinese delegation held consultations with the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute, the Association of Russian Book Publishers (ASKI), and the Union of Russian Writers.
